Damien Hirst Methionine & Bromobenzotrifluoride, 2010, Spot Prints from the woodcuts series created at Paragon Press, is a continuation of the artist's Spots, or Pharmaceutical Paintings, which derive titles from chemicals used by the pharmaceutical industry. Damien Hirst created the composition of colored spots in a grid format as a composition that offers endless colored possibilities.
With the Woodcut process, Damien Hirst is able to achieve exuberant colors via individual richly inked spots. Recently, The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011 was exhibited at 11 galleries worldwide prior to the Tate Modern Retrospective April 4 - September 9, 2012.
