Series
The Thomas Ruff L.M.V.D.R. Series
of Photographs is named after the initials of Mies
Van der Rohe, the legendary 20th Century Architect.
The L.M.V.D.R. Series
first began as a commission offered to Thomas Ruff
in 1999, in connection with the renovation of Haus Lange and
Haus Esters in Krefeld, Germany.
Having
previously photographed architectural subjects, Thomas
Ruff was faced with the challenge of discovering
a new way to capture these all-too-familiar and heavily documented
monuments in a way that would be identifiably unique and memorable.
In
the L.M.V.D.R. Series, Thomas Ruff has
fused traditional elements with technological innovation of
digital manipulation to create an iconic body of Work.
