We specialize in postwar and contemporary art, with particular focus on the transformative decades of the 1960s through the 1990s, a period that fundamentally reshaped painting, works on paper, and printmaking. We have sold dozens of important Andy Warhol screenprints, including multiple sets from Marilyns, Campbell’s Soup Cans, Myths, Endangered Species, and Dollar Signs. In 2018 Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd. loaned multiple Andy Warhol works to Andy Warhol—From A to B and Back Again, the Andy Warhol retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art, which subsequently traveled in 2019 to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and in 2020 to the Art Institute of Chicago. Most recently Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd. loaned three George Condo paintings to the George Condo Retrospective at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris from October 10, 2026 to February 15, 2026. Organized in collaboration with George Condo, this was the most significant museum exhibition of George Condo’s work. Presented thematically, the 200 work retrospective included 80 paintings, 110 drawings and 20 sculptures.

Robert Grunder, a seasoned art professional with over two decades fine art experience, joined Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd. in 2001. Robert swiftly advanced to Director in 2006 and Executive Director in 2019.
Robert's expertise lies in curatorial advice, collection strategy, market analysis, marketing oversight and new business development. He guides clients in building cohesive fine art collections. His responsibilities include marketing, new business development and providing advisory services and curatorial expertise to private and corporate clients. Before his tenure at Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd., Robert held management positions at New York's Marlborough Gallery and artnet.com, further honing his fine art expertise and perspective. Mr. Grunder earned an MFA in painting and art history from the esteemed New York Academy of Art, founded by the legendary Pop artist Andy Warhol. During his studies, Robert was privileged to collaborate with several influential Post-War & Contemporary Artists, including Mark Tansey and Eric Fischl, gaining invaluable insights and deepening his artistic perspective.
An accomplished artist himself, Robert has received critical acclaim, including a review in The New York Times, highlighting the depth and quality of his creative vision. This combination of professional achievements and artistic talent positions Robert Grunder as a versatile and respected figure in the world of fine art.
A graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Joseph K. Levene began collecting art at the age of twelve, when he purchased a 1946 Alexander Calder drawing from the Perls Gallery, his first fine art purchase that remains in his personal art collection. Son of legendary Broadway and film actor Sam Levene, Joseph K. Levene's art credentials span several decades; notably Joseph has extensive fine art expertise and perspective as art dealer, art collector, fine art executive and selling art online.
Before establishing Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd. in 1991, Joseph K. Levene was President and Chief Operating Officer of Petersburg Press, Inc., the internationally respected fine art publisher of limited editions by contemporary artists including Jim Dine, David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist and Frank Stella. Before becoming an art dealer, Joseph was an executive at leading advertisng agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Doyle Dane Bernbach and Benton & Bowles, managing Procter & Gamble and Bristol-Myers packaged goods products.
Joseph K.
